Dr. Najib Ussef is a fellowship‐trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and general orthopedics.
His clinical focus includes:
- Complex hip, knee and shoulder injuries including cartilage/meniscus restoration surgery, ligament reconstruction surgery, hip preservation surgery and shoulder replacement surgery.
- Joint preservation and cartilage restoration of the hip, knee, shoulder and elbow.
- Minimally‐invasive, state‐of‐the‐art non‐surgical and surgical treatments.
- Management of injuries in the non‐elite and elite athlete.
Educational Background:
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology, Medical Degree, and a Master of Business Administration degree from UCLA.
Dr. Ussef completed his surgical residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit where he received excellent, well-rounded training in orthopedic surgery.
He then completed an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Kaiser Permanente Hospital San Diego where he focused on specialized training and technical expertise in the areas of complex hip, knee and shoulder injuries including shoulder surgery, cartilage/meniscus restoration surgery, ligament reconstruction surgery and hip preservation surgery.
His work has appeared in numerous publications covering such issues as Achilles tendon injuries, hip dysplasia, and extensor mechanism ruptures. As a Sports Medicine Fellow at Kaiser Permanente San Diego, he served as assistant team physician for the San Diego Sockers and as team physician for the Southwestern College basketball, football and baseball teams. He also served as head team physician for the Montgomery Aztecs high school football team.
